Description
Agé de 25 ans à peine, Abderrahman Ajbar surprend par la maturité de son œuvre. Témoin d’une délicate maîtrise du pinceau, celle-ci offre à contempler des paysages et des portraits emprunts de grâce, d’éloquence et de beauté. Des paysages et des portraits inspirés de la capitale du Détroit, Tanger. Là où ce jeune artiste a vu le jour.
Atypique par son parcours, Abderrahman Ajbar ne sort pas de l’école de Tétouan, comme beaucoup de ses comparses de sa génération, mais d’un lycée technique de Tanger, puis de l’école Supérieure de Design de Paris.
Dans ses toiles, les murs de la ville se font tantôt roses, tantôt gris sous un ciel rougeoyant. Le plasticien nous emmène ainsi bien loin de cette Tanger bleu et blanc dessinée par les peintures classiques. Chez lui, nulle naïveté mais seulement un désir de retranscrire la réalité brute avec toujours ce détail sortant de l’imaginaire du peintre.
«Fortement inspiré par la géométrie, comme ses maîtres cubistes, sa peinture se caractérise par un réalisme que l’on retrouve dans toutes ses toiles. Ajbar nous offre un Tanger où s’entremêlent cubes et parallélépipèdes, l’équilibre soigneusement structuré; le détail est précis, même s’il semble venir de l’imaginaire et toujours emprunté à l’art Marocain», nous dit la critique d’art Isabelle Queirolo Cassou.
Regardés individuellement, les personnages affichent une certaine raideur, une simplification abstraite cubiste mais la foule est dense, mouvante presque ondulante et toujours vivante. Au jeu du portrait l’artiste arbore encore un certain réalisme dans le regard notamment, le détail du vêtement et adoucit le trait par, ici une enluminure, là une frise comme s’il voulait à tout prix adoucir la réalité et l’enjoliver.
Ainsi dans cette exposition qui se déroule jusqu’au 12 mars à Medina Art Gallery de Tanger, Abderrahman Ajbar réinvente le monde. Il nous offre un œil nouveau qui devrait plaire non seulement aux amoureux de Tanger, mais aussi une exposition à voir absolument pour tous les curieux avides de découvrir des œuvres singulières et fascinantes.
